A Healthy Life...that's my one and only "New Years Resolution." Really its not a resolution at all because I don't do them. It seems every year I try to commit to a resolution and never keep them. So I decided not to wait for the new year and start around Christmas.
What does a healthy life entail? Well really to me I'm focusing on two aspects. A healthier spiritual life and a healthier physical life. Putting the spiritual life first of course. So far its been good, sad to say that its been far easier to live a healthier physical life though.
I've started reading out of Proverbs, Jeremiah and James. All very good books, James probably being my favorite. But, my wife and I started reading a children's bible with my daughter every night before bed. After a couple nights of reading it she loved it. One time laying her down for an afternoon nap she ran over to the nightstand yelling "buk!...buk!"-book. My daughter was excited to read the word of God, my daughter was seeking out the word of God. One of the stories we read the other night was Abraham sacrificing his son Isaac. I realized reading that story that Abraham and Sarah raised a boy, a man that sought after God's heart. A man that feared God. A man that listened to his parents, he would listen to his father to the point of death. He carried the wood he'd be burned on. Isaac trusted his father on earth and in heaven. And Isaac only listened and trusted his father on earth because he was raised by his parents who listened and trusted their father in heaven. I just pray that I can raise my children in the some way.
Now for a healthier physical life. I still need to work on eating healthier and smaller portions. But I've fallen in love with running. In the past two weeks I've ran between 10-15 miles. I love the high that comes with running. I just can't wait till I am reading and praying as much as I am running.
